Strengthening Families

The Strengthening Families approach, which commenced as one of the flagship Better Services Initiatives, will transition to the community sector from 1 January 2017.

This family-centred way of working is acknowledged as best practice in supporting families who experience multiple complex needs. As of January the Strengthening Families approach will be delivered by OneLink, through a partnership with the Child, Youth and Family Services Program (CYFSP).

The Strengthening Families approach uses co-design to build families’ capacity to manage their human services journey. The transition to OneLink will maintain key links with the human services directorates: Justice and Community Safety; Community Services; Education; and ACT Health.

A OneLink Practice Leader will work with community sector providers to embed the Strengthening Families approach, using the framework’s toolkit resources to assist families, coordinate the Community of Practice and work with Directorate Champions to escalate systemic service barriers.
